When a man lies with another man
Why does that make them wrong?
And when a woman loves a woman
Why do many wish to see them hung?
People say that opposites attract
But equally so do the same
Yet why are so many attacked
Why are they made to feel ashamed?
How can someone believe themselves right
To tell others their love cannot be?
How can they so easily spite
A person’s own identity?
Be true to yourself, don’t try and hide
And don’t let others decide
How you should be feeling inside
Love whoever touches your heart
Don’t be afraid to be who you are
And hold your head high with pride

Such a warm poem. “How can someone believe themselves right To tell others their love cannot be? How can they so easily spite A person’s own identity?”– Wonderful lines. Hope you are doing well, Matt.

Thank you. I felt inclined to write something with regard to June being Pride Month, and these words just flowed.

Good job. And Pride month huh? I had no idea.

Me neither until yesterday. For whatever reason it’s not given anywhere near the same exposure as Black History Month.
