Twenty-seventeen has come to an end
A year of promise, hope, and new friends
There’s plenty to look back on and dissect
Try to forget or relive and reflect
I found my love, the Queen of my heart
Without whom I know I’d have fallen apart
I made new friends on whom I can rely
While others abandoned without even a goodbye
I published a book, and people bought it!
(I know, who would have thought it?)
And I finally learned how to write tabs for guitar
If only I could play, I’d be a star!
(just kidding)
So here’s to hoping that the coming year
Can give me even more reason to cheer
edit: I somehow managed to call this 2018 instead of 2017, and stated that it were 2018 that is ending, and not 2017. Oops.
You should check out my book!

I really liked this – I have witnessed so many forced rhymes that this is quite refreshing! And great job at publishing a book, I know how unprepared one can be for all the work that it requires! Wishing you a prosperous 2018.

Thank you 🙂
I hate forcing rhymes; which is why so many of my poems end up being brief. I wrote a poem about that before, actually: https://upsdownsanddeviations.com/2017/08/29/rhymes/
The book was a bit of an eye-opener. I thought that having a few hundred poems written would mean I was prepared. But I wasn’t ready for the effort of trying to put them in some kind of order

I’ll check the link out.
Well, ordering is one thing, but then names, cover, and marketing! There are many people who may enjoy reading your poetry but are not willing (or cannot) purchase the book. And gathering reviews is another problem! I wish everyone who reads a book reviews it! It’s necessary for a successful launch!

The reviews (or lack of) are certainly an issue. Especially for people who can’t afford marketing so rely heavily on others to help spread the word.

Yeah, I had to make mine free for a couple of days and contact people to review it. As well as e-mailing some reviewers trying to get their review! It takes a lot of time and effort though!
