What Would The Greats Think?

What would they think

If my poetry was read by the greats?

Would it sit right

With Wordsworth, Shakespeare

Dickinson or Yeats?

Would they see merit

In my butchering of forms

Or would my haiku villanelle

Have them up in arms?

I’m sure the Bard might approve

Of the made up words I use

But my inconsistent meter

May well leave him feeling bitter

But ultimately in the end

It really doesn’t matter

Because whether or not the greats

Would rather see me succeed or fail

I’ll keep on writing my way

In my own unique style

My laptop has died. Any purchase of my book would help put me in a position where I could replace it. Or Buy Me a Coffee and we’ll be bestest buddies forever

  1. I believe only Mark Twain would like my writing. Maybe Jack London? The ancient poets were so damn good. I read them daily. Keep me trying to write better. A outstanding poem. I liked this one.

    1. Thank you ☺
I’m not a huge fan of the ‘greats.’ I appreciate their skill with words, but I’m not a fan. I’m also not much of a reader either, which might be why
