I’m trapped within this nightmare
Like prey caught in a snare
And if I don’t soon wake
I fear what may be at stake
Soon it will all be over
The shadows are drawing closer
Cold, faceless, adumbral
Their ghostly fingers unfurl
I open my mouth to scream
But silence reigns in this dream
Darkness envelops my being
I no longer feel anything
But fear, loneliness, despair
Trapped within this nightmare

I have hardly ever seen the use of ‘adumbral’ in a better way!
Worst nightmare, so well written.

Thank you! 😊😊 I’d never even heard the word before I wrote this.

Mine too. Both with real words, and those I make up

I haven’t tried making up words , maybe I am too much of a conformist!😑
But I admire iconoclasts. ☺️
