The Four Stages Of Writing A Poem

When I write

I follow a pattern

Always, without fail

The same four stages

Every time

First comes the idea

A spark of inspiration

And I churn out words

One, two, maybe ten lines

Then I begin to mould

Shaping what I have written

Into a more poetic form

Fleshing out my thoughts

The third stage is editing

Checking my spelling

My grammar and syntax

Correcting mistakes

And finally

I click “Move to trash”

Because anything needing that much work

Is no longer real
