There’s No Escape From You

I can’t rid myself

Of these memories

Of you

Can’t stop the way

They feast upon my insides

Like some kind of cancer

Can’t loosen the grip

Shake the hold

They have on me

I try to run away

Hide in the shadows

Take shelter in the storm

Hoping the rain will wash away

All trace of you

But still you stay

And so I wait

For the clouds to shed

Their final tears

And pray the sun instead

Can melt away the marks

You left on me

But they’re here to stay

Haunting me

Until the day I draw

My final breath
