I should have been able to rely on you
To open up to you
To talk about darkness festering inside me
To release the demons dwelling in the shadows
But I could not
Because all you ever did
Was make yourself the victim
Of the disease that was killing me
You told me to keep it all in
Because you didn’t want to know
You didn’t want the hassle and the stress
Of having a troubled child
You act like I owe you
For bringing me into this world
But all you’ve ever done
Is push me to the brink of leaving

Ouch! Sometimes those closest to us hurt us the most.

Indeed they do. Though what hurts the most is when they fail to apologise or even acknowledge the pain they cause.

That they never do. They think they are doing a great favour by pointing out our flaws. 😏

As we embrace ourselves we rise above those we trusted to show us the love we need. Thanks for shining light on such darkness, something so many of us suffered in silence.

Thank you. A part of why I share my writing is to encourage others to use their voice.
