I Write

I write

And I write

And I write

Nearly every day

Often twice or thrice a day

Anything and everything

That enters my head

I write

 

Inspiration comes and goes

Like the tide

Or the waves of an onslaught in a boxing ring

Sometimes when it strikes

It is little more than a glancing blow

I write two lines before I lose the flow

Sometimes it lands a telling punch

And in the dazed moments that follow

I write

 

And there are the times

When I feel its claws digging into my chest

Tearing me open

Ripping out every shred of raw emotion

And splattering these once imprisoned feelings

Across the page

Freed at last

And so I write

And I write

And I write
