“It seemed like a good idea at the time”
Is a phrase I uttered all too often in my youth
Trying to justify my stupid actions
Like jumping off a three-storey car-park roof
Or giving a teacher a ton of abuse
Nearly resulting in me being thrown at of school
And contrary to several witnesses’ views
It wasn’t just a matter of me trying to be cool
It just seemed like a good idea at the time
Like the time I almost stood in front of a train
Or put a knife to my wrist
Ready to slice open the vein
I saw no better way to let go of the pain
Silly little things I very nearly did
Because they seemed like a good idea at the time
But hindsight has taught me
They were anything but clever
I’ve learned from the experience
And come back stronger, and better
Hindsight always lends a perspective.
Well enumerated follies!
But tell me, did you really try all this?

Yeah. Told one teacher to pretty much go fuck himself and that he needs to be fired. And jumped off a car-park roof after consuming ten times the recommended daily intake of energy drinks, in an hour…
Obviously I never stood in front of a train, but I was ready and waiting on the platform edge as the train was arriving at the station. And I’ve been close to other bids for oblivion, before having a change of heart.

I have no idea who and/or what that is, but I’ll assume it’s a good thing👍

Ahh, I’ve never read it. I’ve never read much, actually. Words tend to spill from my head, but they don’t go in so well.
And thank you, again.

Glad you had a change of heart. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to read what you so beautifully wrote. Thank you for the honesty and for using such a great talent.

Thank you ☺
Yes, I am glad too. And it was after the nearly-moment with the train that I began writing again, as well as finally being honest about my problems.
