14,941,440 (minus 1)

Twenty eight and (nearly) a half years

Three hundred and forty one months

One thousand, four hundred and eighty two weeks

Ten thousand, three hundred and seventy six days

Two hundred and forty nine thousand and twenty four hours

Fourteen million, nine hundred and forty one thousand, four hundred and forty minutes

Eight hundred and ninety six million, four hundred and eighty six thousand, four hundred seconds

That is, roughly how long I have been alive for

Give or take

Yet people are too impatient to wait just a single minute

In a queue

Ordering a takeaway

Crossing a road

Driving

And in every other situation

We have become a society ruled by deadlines

Always watching the clock

Panicking as time seems to slip away

Why?

Is that one minute out of the almost fifteen million I have experienced

Truly so valuable

That it is worth risking the thirty million I have yet to enjoy?
