Everybody’s Beautiful

Bombarded with pictures

Of supermodels

We are told are beautiful

Putting pressure

On women and girls

With such unachievable

Standards and goals

So slender and lithe

Almost skeletal

Any extra weight

Is deemed unacceptable

And must be trimmed like the fat

On a hanging carcass

In a butcher’s shop

And even those models

And celebrities

Said to be examples

Of how big can too be beautiful

Get made up

And dressed up

They know their best angle

And as much as they are role models

They will never be rebels

Against the pressure

On women and girls

To conform to someone’s view

Of what is beautiful

So whether your small and lissome

Big and buxom

Defining the extreme

Or somewhere in between

You’ll always be beautiful

To those that matter
