The Reason I Fight

Indecision and uncertainty overwhelms me

I forever wonder

As thoughts of quitting wander

Unchecked around my mind

Sometimes they whisper

Sometimes they shout and they scream

And there are moments when they say nothing at all

But these moments of silence

Are too few and far between

Not granting enough of a respite

From the near constant urging to give in

To concede defeat

To let them win

But then you speak

You encourage me

Often without even knowing

Your words block out the negative voices

Drown out the calls to quit

And you remind me why I carry on

You are the reason I fight
