Wasted Words

There are very few things

That I hate more

Than wasted words

 

In a world where we are told

Asked

Warned

Begged

Pleaded with

To not waste food

So it can instead be used

To feed the hungry

To not waste money

And instead use it

To help the needy

To not waste clothes

So they can be used

To clothe the cold and naked

To not waste our vote

For it is our responsibility

To bring about the change we desire

To not waste time

For our existence

Is far too fleeting as it is

 

Yet those who demand

We waste not these resources

These privileges

Are forever wasting their words

On frivolous statements

Instead of using them

For the benefit of those without a voice
