Wishing For The Weekend

Spend my weekdays wishing for the weekend

But not because I’m going out and drinking with my friends

I’m not excited for my lie-in or a two-day Netflix binge

No I’m desperate for the hit on which my sanity is hinged

I can barely last three days before I’m jonesing like a addict

So God forbid I go without my Saturday football fix

‘Cus when I don’t watch the Alvechurch play

Nothing can wash that sadness away

It doesn’t really matter if they win or lose

Just watching them will always chase away the blues

Applauding every tackle and heckling the officials

Cheering the team on from the first ’til final whistle

And the moment when they score a last minute winning goal

There’s no other feeling like it in the whole entire world

So when Saturday rolls around, I guarantee

There is only one place I will be

Watching my beloved Alvechurch F.C.
